Francisco Gutiérrez Sanín
Colombia Case Study Lead

I am a sociologist and anthropologist, and Director of the Observatory on Land Restitution.
My research background relates to political systems, power and conflict. I have researched the Colombian conflict extensively and contributed to several academic and non-academic journals on this topic.

My role in this GCRF project is to lead the Colombia case study research and contribute on the methodology for comparative research.

My research interests include: armed conflict, insurgent and counter-insurgent organization, agrarian conflicts and property rights, patterns of violence, clientelism and brokerage, political parties, methodology.

Diana Ximena Machuca
Researcher

I am a political scientist with a masters degree in Political Studies from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. My research interests include: armed conflict, peasant movements and organizations, conflicts over land and resources, land restitution, land dispossession, and land grabbing

Camilo Acero Vargas
Researcher

I am a political scientist with a Master’s degree in political studies from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. My research interests include: state formation (particularly in rural areas), bureaucracy, political economy of conflict.

Maria Mónica Parada Hernández
Researcher

I am a lawyer and sociologist from Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá. 

I am also a Master's student in public law at Universidad del Rosario. My professional experience relates to strategic litigation and human rights advocacy.

My research interests include: gender inequalities, legal systems and diplomacy.

Margarita Marín Jaramillo
Researcher

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Statistics, and am currently pursuing my second year of PhD studies in Statistics.

My main areas of interest are: Bayesian statistics, sampling theory, applied econometrics, time series analysis and multivariate analysis. Additionally, I have more than five years of experience in academic research related to social issues, economics and statistics, as well as undergraduate and graduate teaching experience.

I specialise in quantitative, statistical and econometric analysis, which is the area I will be working on for this GCRF project.

Esteban Mauricio Espinosa Martinez
