Myanmar workshop 2019

In November 2019, the Drugs & (dis)order Myanmar country working group held it’s annual workshop in Myitkyina, Kachin State. During the four-day workshop, Myanmar research partners KRC and SHAN presented emerging findings from year 2 fieldwork and discussed its research plan for year 3. Discussions included research methodologies, ethics, risks and mitigation, outputs and public engagement, reflections on successes and challenges, and how to incorporate project-wide comparative research goals. Principal investigator Jonathan Goodhand also provided a project-wide update, and Patrick Meehan, Co-investigator, spent time with both KRC and SHAN before and after the workshop to analyse emerging findings, assess data management, reflect on research methods, ethics and security issues, and to discuss priorities for year 3 work plans.
