Transitioning from war to peace: what role for the EU in addressing illicit economies?

Drugs & (dis)order was invited to attend a policy meeting convened by the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO), the European Commission, and the Civil Society Dialogue Network.

The meeting aimed to gather analysis and recommendations from civil society experts on how the EU can better engage with the issue of illicit economies in its development and conflict prevention work – in particular in contexts transitioning from war to peace.

Drugs & (dis)order experts attending the meeting included:  Jonathan Goodhand, Patrick Meehan and Jasmine Bhatia from SOAS, University of London; Danseng Lawn, from Kachinland Research Centre; Sai Aung Hla, from Shan Herald Agency for News; Karol Balfe from Christian Aid; and Alex Soderholm from London School of Economics.
